sampling will be carried out

All isokinetic and an-isokinetic sampling will be carried out according to internationally accepted reference methods, which comply with the National Environmental Management: Air Quality Act of 2004 (Act 39 of 2004) as scheduled in the Minimum Emissions Listed Activities as prescribed in Government Notice 37054; gazetted on 22 November 2013.

applied to measure the concentration of Particulate Matter (PM)

Isokinetic sampling techniques will be applied to measure the concentration of Particulate Matter (PM). The sampling method for the abovementioned component complies with the specifications of the following international accepted methods, USEPA Method 5: “Determination of Particulate Matter Emissions from Stationary Sources” ESS utilises a Dado st 5 instrument for the sampling of particulate matter.

(O2, NO, NO2, NOx, CO, SO2 and H2S)

NOx, CO, SO Other Elements or the equivalent ISO/EN Methods. 2 and H2S present in the stack gas streams on a volume/volume basis, in accordance with EN 50379-2:2004, Specification for portable electrical apparatus designed to measure combustion gas parameters of heating appliances.

The analyser utilises calibrated electrochemical sensors to detect and quantify the concentrations of the various gasses. The calibration is done routinely with SANAS certified laboratory test gas with known concentration. In addition to the emission measurements mentioned above, the following parameters must also be measured as part of isokinetic measurements, where applicable:

  • Gas velocity
  • Gas Volumetric flow rate
  • Gas temperature as well as absolute and static pressure
  • The water vapour content of the stack gas
